Story

25 years ago, one NGO named ‘c-war’ visited Kampong Thom and they offered a vocational education course for the people with disabilities. Many attended the course but only some of them completed all the courses. One ‘mekong wheelchair’ beneficiary of JSC, Mr. Chith Loch is one of the graduates of this program who sincerely participated. After this program, he enlarged his small bicycle repair shop to the motorbike repair shop.

After he lost his legs in the civil war, He was always drunk and depressed. He tried to restore his life with his new shop. Of course it wasn’t easy. But his shop has been well known as a good expert in town. However, last year, the landlord modified the terms of lease. So he had to move the shop. Again, he came to JSC. But he is not the beneficiary that is assisted anymore, now he is accompany with us as a customer of our micro-finance program service.

He is taken the loan and moved his shop just across the former location. One daughter is selling clothes and cosmetic products in the same place with him. Ordinarily he talks and laughs a lot but when he repairs motorbike, his face is very serious. He takes pride in his work and the customers all say in chorus that he is reliable. Now he is no longer the victim of war who is in despair but the dignified member of the community and the proud father in the family.
