Rural Project

JSC’s general rural project, Metta Karuna (meaning loving compassion), serves the people through education and social programs. The main target groups are mainly the most marginalized in society – the poor and persons with disabilities.

The education programs included projects for teachers, students, and those related to improving education quality. Social programs were designed to provide resources for a better quality of life through wheelchair distribution, infrastructure development, and income-generating projects.

Siem Reap

In Metta Karuna Siem Reap, social programs focus on improving living conditions – building infrastructure such as bridges, roads, access to clean water, (e.g., wells and ponds), and building simple houses for the poor and PwD. Through educational programs, we help students stay in school and improve the learning environment by providing scholarships, resources such as school supplies, uniforms and bicycles, and by building and repairing schools when necessary. Especially, we aim to provide school supplies to students in remote villages. For any development project, the final decision is made after consulting the villagers and village leaders.

Banteay Meanchey

Banteay Meanchey is the poorest province in Cambodia. The JSC Banteay Meanchey district office is located in Sisophon focus on improving living condition – building infrastructures such as access to clean water, (e.g., ponds), toilets, building simple houses for the poor and PwD. We also distribute wheelchairs to PwD and offer repair services for them to enhance their physical mobility. Through educational programs, we help students to stay in school and encourage to learn by providing scholarships, resources such as school supplies, uniforms, bicycles, and by building and repairing schools when necessary.

Kampong Thom

Kompong Thom is the smallest among all of the JSC branches. Not limited by its size, Kompong Thom office is very active in the distribution of wheelchairs for PwD and is also involved in the Metta Karuna. Our main beneficiaries are PwD because of landmine/UXO accidents. But we did not exclude the very poor and vulnerable people. Since its start in May 2005 by Mr. Vong Thim, JSC runs the projects for; small infrastructures and developments, for example, housing, toilet, pond and well; income generating activities through giving loan for small business, cow for work and water pump; education by providing scholarship and bicycle; and wheelchair project for PwD.
